3. Waitangi Forest Info

The following received from the Forest Managers

In late February/March we intend to commence operations in stand 21/01 Waitangi, which is located on the south/eastern side of Bedford Road.

These works will consist initially of the upgrade of the existing track/road at the base of the hill.  Initially no works planned on Bedford Road.

Later in the season (May through October) the stand will be completely harvested, which will require some periodic closures of Bedford Road when tree felling.

The total area planned for harvest is outlined in red below.  Essentially east of Bedford Road and east of Te Wairoa Road up to the Skyline/Marker 5 intersection.

It is expected that the harvest will be completed in calendar 2020.

We’ll advise when we start, and when we do would request that we keep it simple and have no riding access at all in this area until the completion of harvest.  Bedford and the section of Te Wairoa road themselves will still be open excepting during the periods we need to close when we are felling close to the roads.

The map is available Forestry Access. Keep an eye on facebook for updates
