  1. Event Reports

Midwinter Enduro – July 15

We had 50 riders out in the forest on a day that started with the tail end of a rain storm and finished in Sunshine. There was a lot of smiles at the end of each stage. With the Best of MTB enduro racing coming to the day. Mates and family having fun on Mountain bikes. Mark it in the calendar for the same time next year.  More details and pics  on club Facebook page

Midwinter Ride to Horeke pub – Jul 22

Over 20 brave souls turned out in drizzling rain to the start in Okaihou.  The rain cleared quickly for a sunny ride to the pub.  Great to see a number of families and some (very) young riders.  Shuttles back to Okaihou after lunch made for a relaxed day.  Pics on the website slideshow.  Planned again for 2019

  1. Club General

Important Meeting:       Sat 9 Sep 3:30pm:           Gravel pit Inlet Road

The club believes it is desirable to become an Incorporated Society.  This meeting is to get a vote from members on whether to proceed.

Three key drivers:

  1. Registering our junior racers with Cycling NZ /MTBNZ.  Our juniors are increasingly competing in regional / national events.  For best recognition they need to be from a club registered with Cycling NZ / MTBNZ – which requires us to be incorporated society.
  2. Protection for organisers of club events.   Incorporated Societies limit the liability of individual  members organising events
  3. Savings on Insurance.  We are required to have third party insurance by the Waitangi Forest managers.  We can get this more cheaply through Cycling NZ if we are incorporated.

Further information will be emailed directly to you but please put this date in your diaries.....

Car Parking Waitangi Forest

Car parking is getting increasingly difficult for entrance to Waitangi Forest from Inlet Rd.We have arranged with the Forest Managers for club member to have ongoing access to the gravel pit.Keys will be issued to members:

  • You will have to apply
  • There will be a small charge
  • Details will follow shortly
