Kerikeri  MTB Club Newsletter

January 2018

2018 Seasons greetings to you all!

Trust your biking over the holiday period went well and you haven’t been washed away by all the rain.

  1. Waitangi Forest – Club Tracks – New Track

The new track has been heavily ridden over the holiday period and given a big THUMBS UP!

A couple of areas will need some additional work but what a great addition to our track network.

Richard has carried out a name selection thru the clubs Facebook page and the name selected = DELIVERANCE

Signage is being made up and we will have a formal opening – which our sponsors will be invited to – once everything dries out.....

  1. Ride Schedule

February 2018Doubtless Bay Ride –  Sunday 25 February – Berghan Point

Meet 09:30 on Hihi Beach foreshore opposite Motor Camp

This a repeat of the very popular ride from a few years ago. Most of it is on private land.  We have got permission from all owners BUT the landowners are very concerned about kauri dieback disease:
(1) Bikes and shoes MUST be cleaned before ride (free of mud / dirt)

 (2) all bikes / shoes will be sprayed on day against kauri dieback (we will supply the spray).

(3) bee hives present - anybody allergic to bee stings be warned

The ride is mainly on 4wd track, no technical issues, has spectacular scenery but some steep uphills which can be walked. It should suit anyone with a reasonable level of fitness including families . Ride length ~ 2.5 hrs.  Lunch / coffee after in Mangonui
