Opua Cycle Trail / Oramahoe / Kawakawa Loop

Same general format as last year

Out & back ride on Opua cycle trail (now continues to Kawakawa / Otiria).  Go as far as you want

OR

Longer Oramahoe Rd / Kawakawa / Opua cycle trail loop

Week of 14 November – Kerikeri MTB  Club X country champs – Strava Timetrial

A course ~ 1hour ride time has been set in Waitangi Forest which riders may attempt at any time during the day /  week and any number of times during the week. 

 

This event will be run throughClick here . To get ready for this event you will need a Strava account (Click here  ) then become a member of the Kerikeri MTB club on Strava.

 

There will be prizes for placings and effort courtesy of our local bike shop and wine makers. To be eligible for Club glory you will need to be a paid up member of the clubClick here

 

Full instructions to follow shortly - a practice system is being setup so you can familiarise yourself with the systems in advance

4 December- Saturday – Rogaine (note change of date – was Nov)

3 hours (start 2.30pm) & 1 hour (start 4.30pm) options

This is a follow up to the introductory rogaine held on a Tuesday night ride last summer.

Teams of 2 (or more) riders are issued with a map showing a range of Control Points in the Waitangi forest.  Easy / close Controls have low value.  Distant / hard to get at Controls have high values.  Teams choose how many and which Controls they will try to find in the 3 hour time available.  The team with the highest number of points wins.

Event suitable for all incl families.

Easy riders ride on 1st and 3rd Sunday each month

Forest road ride from Gravel pit on Inlet Rd; ~1.5 hrs

All welcome; easy pace; optional coffee after

Dont forget the weekly rides from Inlet Road Gravel Pit every Tuesday 5:30pm

Intention is to travel to Waitangi MTB Park the 2NDTUESDAY OF EVERY MONTH starting on November 8.  Ride start time 5:30pm in The Hub carpark

Working bee Tuesday 1 November – instead of evening ride – no bikes

Bring machetes / mattocks / spades

Intention is walk / clean up most commonly ridden tracks

Coronary Bypass / Firebreak / Flying Scot / Wasn’t Me etc

  1. Mokau Ridge Puketi to Mangamuka Bridge (Sep)

Around 16 riders registered for this 30km shuttle supported ride, but on the drizzly wet day that eventuated only 8 fronted up......

Good time reportedly had by all.

Good gravel track winter ride with no mud!

 

  1. Waitangi Bike Park ( Mon 24 Oct)

Over 20 riders turned out and formed into groups of similar speeds and technical abilities - many to try out the tracks for the first time.

A group of riders went down from Kerikeri to the Tokoroa 12 hour MTB Relay Event

In a big weekend of MTBing the JNR A Team took out 2nd in the 12hr relay. With the other JNR team coming in in 7th.

The old pedalers came 9th in their division.
