HAPPY HOLIDAYS
It’s a wrap! 2022 is almost over and it finally feels like summer is just around the corner… any day now…. hot afternoons, long evenings, dusty trails ….. it’s coming!
It’s thank you time!!!!
We’ve pulled off some astounding things this year, so its time to thank a ton of people and businesses that have donated huge amounts of goods, equipment, money, expertise and time to help bring our dreams to life. Thank you, Thank you Thank you!
Thanks to Summit Forests for letting us play in your Forest, for your support, understanding and willingness to help us make stuff happen.
Huge thanks to everyone who helped shift dirt to grow our ever-expanding network of tracks. Thanks Oxford Trust and Pub Charity for days on the digger and Hirecorp for great deals. Thanks to Tony Worrall, Jason Voakes and Kerikeri Cabinets for your contributions. Thanks to Regan Polglaze from Barfoot and Thompson for sponsoring track signs.
The club sent a handful of people to undertake digger licencing and up-skill the track building crew – It’s awesome to see them put their new skills to work.
Thanks Northland Valuers, Prime Plumbing, Hunter Cycles and the Ray Family for making shuttles a happening thing! And Martin, Jules and Waipapa Glass for turning the little truck into a functional shuttle and to Auto One for keeping it going and keeping in legal.
This winter local businesses and volunteers created a carpark – Thanks Mahalo Transport for donating excavators, trucks and expertise, Keriland Earthworks for moving equipment, Carters Bulk Haul for loaning us a truck to move gravel, Summit for allowing use of their quarry and installing our very own gate. Thanks Northland Regional Council for donating the Kauri Die -back wash station and Oxford for funding a security camera.
Thanks to the Kerikeri Adventure Film Festival for sharing the festival suplus with us – Inspired by adventure, we helped some of our young riders undertake expert coaching. It’s fantastic to see them breaking into the top 10 and a few podium finishes in the last few weeks.
Thanks to MTB Direct for passing on $1 every time you buy something. Thanks to everyone who came to shuttle days and donated towards on-going track development.
Our first Whitehills Enduro was a blast! It was a rainy, muddy, slip and slide kind of fun where all the B-lines got a good workout and everyone involved challenged themselves and each other. Huge thanks to all the organisers, helpers, set-up crew, marshals and cooks on the day and of course the riders for coming along and sharing in the fun.
Thanks to Enduro Sponsors, Hunter Cycles – We love the way you are a constant supporter of the club!! McLeods Brewery – for especially tasty refreshments, Far North Search and Rescue and Puketi Forest Trust for loaning their radios. Prime Plumbing, Bryant Roofing, Northland Valuers, Paihia Mountain Bikes, and Plough and Feather, thanks for adding safety, hygiene and prizes to our `big day. 😊 😊 😊
Waitangi Mountain Bike Park and Sport Northland helped make the Northland Secondary School champs a success.
And a last thank-you to those who clicked the ‘donate’ button or just popped a few extra dollars into our account – you know who you are!!!
We couldn’t do it without this outstanding support! Please support those who support us.
Summer Riding
Whitehills
Whitehills is where all the action has been happening and there is superb riding - grade 3+. Tracks are signposted and on trailforks. Whitehills is open for Club members so encourage your friends to come along with you rather than check it out on their own.
Please help maintain positive relationships with forest stakeholders by respecting access, staying in the club riding area, taking your rubbish home and having fun riding bikes with your mates. Keep an eye on your Hivepass app for messages about closures.
Members can buy a key and ride whenever it suits them – as well as on club rides of course. We strongly recommend that you leave valuables at home. Apply for a key - click here.
Inlet Road
Tracks are a bit thin on the ground after several seasons of harvest and weather events. What’s left have not been maintained so if you or your visitors are heading in for a look, keep that in mind and keep your eyes open for unexpected obstacles. Tracks may not be sign-posted.
Waitangi Mountain Bike Park.
The first stop for new MTB riders and the perfect place to get your kids and their friends hooked on bikes. Team up with another family to make it even more fun. Support your local and invest in our next generation of young riders.
Check out some other Northland MTB riding at
Kauri Coast, Parihaka, or Glenbervie
A club is not a thing, it’s a group of people that make things happen.
If you’d like a different kind of ride, perhaps a family ride, a Sunday afternoon gravel ride, a chilled Waitangi ride, a skills ride with someone who has experience to share, an epic overnighter, you’d love to lead a ride….. or something else altogether, please let us know so we can help you get it going.
This is your club so get amongst it and have a blast this summer.
