Track Closures and Access Restrictions – 2021 Forest Harvest

Track Closures and Access Restrictions – 2021 Forest Harvest

Over the next 6 months there will be rolling closures of several access roads and significant track closures. The forest management company and the club have agreed to try and manage access so that some tracks can remain open for as long as possible.

COMMUNICATION is our number one tool. We will notify restrictions and closures on facebook, email newsletters, club website, the noticeboard at the beginning of Dux and signage within the forest.

  • Check restrictions before you ride
  • Plan your ride
  • Read and obey ALL signage in the forest - at all times - 24/7.

From today, 5 May, the following roads and tracks are CLOSED to mountain bikes until further notice.

SKYLINE ROAD

BLUEGUM ROAD

DELIVERANCE

JOCKS DROP

ISOLATION

OKURA ROAD – from Skyline intersection to Wild Kiwi

Closures are in place to ensure safety of riders and forestry workers. They apply daytime, evenings and weekends. Do not enter closed tracks or cross barriers.

There will be regular vehicle use of all access roads, including logging trucks and heavy machinery on Te Wairoa, Bedford and Young Roads. PLEASE take extreme care when exiting tracks.

Our continued access to the Kerikeri MTB Club tracks in Waitangi Forest relies on our positive working relationship with the forest management company. You can help with this by respecting access restrictions, complying with notices and keeping well away from active  harvest areas.

Please pass the message about forest and track closure on to your non-club mates.

Stay involved over the winter

We are fortunate to have a crew of regular riders who are constantly working on new riding options. Keep an eye on Facebook for dates and times of opportunities to meet up and ride elsewhere and to help create new riding options.
